Company description:

EUMETSAT is Europe’s meteorological satellite agency, operating satellites that monitor the weather and climate from space - 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

EUMETSAT is an international organisation employing staff from across all 30 member states and this role is being advertised on multiple international job boards, but please note that this role would be based in Darmstadt, Germany and would require international applicants to relocate if successful.

EUMETSAT is a key player in the European Space Sector, responsible for operating Europe's weather and climate monitoring satellites.  Our core duties encompass the collection, distribution, and long-term preservation of invaluable Earth Observation data. The satellites we operate serve multiple essential functions, from supplying environmental data critical for European weather forecasting agencies to providing vital indicators for climate change and supporting emergency rescue beacon responses.

Within the energetic international environment of EUMETSAT, the Datacentre Services Team Leader supports the evolution, development and deployment of datacentre services, infrastructure and solutions for current and emerging needs.
EUMETSAT is entering an interesting and challenging period as a wide-ranging and transformational program of technology refresh is underway, and multiple satellite launches are planned during the next few years.

The successful candidate will be actively engaged in development and implementation of the forward roadmap, which includes establishment of co-located capacity increases, and strategic development of the onsite datacentre facility with a focus on overall cohesion and infrastructure efficiency.

The Datacentre Services Team Leader will work in the Technical and Scientific Support (TSS) directorate of the EUMETSAT matrix organisation, in the growing Infrastructures for IT and Data (I2D) division.
