We are now looking for an experienced Grid Manager to join the Project Delivery department of our Onshore Wind Business Unit.

In this position you will be responsible for managing all technical aspects of the grid connection agreements in our onshore wind power projects, with a specific focus on the Swedish market. The role also involves Electrical Engineering design and contracting elements.

You will report directly to the Head of Construction Design, where you will have a close connection to your colleagues in the team and the wider Project Delivery department, as well as direct interaction with other internal stakeholders, such as Market & Site Development, Procurement, Offshore Wind and Operations & Asset Management.

Building and maintaining a strong network with external stakeholders (e.g. DNO and TSO) as well as specialist consultants will be key to providing the required support throughout the development timeline. Effective management of external stakeholders is a vital part of the role.

Travelling to other Vattenfall locations up to twice a month is to be expected.

Main Responsibilities & Tasks
Primary
* Assess grid capacity requirements for new sites and undertake grid connection feasibility studies to help identify the most advantageous grid connection points
* Point of contact with Distribution Network Operators and Transmission System Operator on all grid technical matters
* Hold discussions on grid connection possibilities with grid operator and be responsible for grid company relationship management
* Negotiate grid technical requirements, prepare contract documents and secure the grid connection agreements necessary to connect the wind farm to the grid, aligned with the project strategy
* Where appropriate, challenge requirements and suggest alternative (more cost-effective or timely) grid connection solutions
* Strong commercial awareness relating to contract compliance, cost control and relative value of engineering solutions
* Provide reliable information on grid tariffs, connection costs and substation equipment for project financial models, for both investment and operational costs
* Monitor and manage the grid risk in collaboration with our project/risk managers in both development and construction
* Ensure the windfarm is fully compliant with relevant internal, local, national and international regulations and grid codes to enable timely energisation and operation of the asset


Secondary
* Prepare and review electrical designs
* Provide technical and commercial support to project development and construction teams in all grid and electrical BoP related questions
* Share knowledge, and provide support and guidance to team mates
* Prepare and review electrical content of tender and contract documents for BoP and WTG packages
* Liaise with suppliers, contractors, consultants and internal stakeholders, throughout the entire lifecycle of the wind farm project, with main focus on the development and construction phase
* Lead negotiations of electrical volume for WTG and BoP contracts

Qualifications

Business knowledge and skills

  • Minimum 5 years’ post-grad experience in electrical engineering and grid design in Sweden, preferably in wind power industry
  • Strong experience and knowledge of Swedish grid codes, and other relevant industry codes and design standards
  • Deep knowledge of power systems, grid technical requirements and experience in the connection processes of grid operators
  • Proven experience of negotiating electrical/grid contracts with grid operators
  • Proven experience in preparing and reviewing tender and contract documents
  • Experience in wind farm electrical BoP design
  • Experience in liaising with regulators and contributing to industry consultations
  • Driver’s license (beneficial but not essential)
  • Spoken and written proficiency in both Swedish and English is a must

Qualifications

  • Minimum B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering
