This role is within our Commercial Digital Platforms cluster, which uses digital technologies to reinvent the experience of becoming a Volvo customer. You will be an active contributor to this mission! What you will do: As a Staff Engineer, you will play a crucial role in driving architecture decisions for our platforms and modules, collaborating closely with team leads. Your responsibilities will encompass designing secure and robust solution architectures to help teams achieve their goals, while actively setting development guidelines and maintaining a close connection to the code level. You will be a key representative in cross-team and cross-cluster communications, ensuring the implementation of good practices and guidelines set by the CD Technical Steering Group. Balancing ease of use and detail in documentation will be part of your remit, as will advising the product team on technological choices in collaboration with team leads. Additionally, you'll participate in on-call and office-hours support rotations to maintain system stability. Who you are: The ideal candidate is passionate about platform technologies with deep experience in developing high-speed, network-efficient, highly available distributed platform solutions. Proficiency in C# and JavaScript with React is essential, as these are the primary technologies in Commercial Digital's Learn and Shop area. You should have excellent knowledge of CI/CD practices and proven experience in designing, building, and improving deliveries on container orchestration platforms like Kubernetes. Several years of experience with cloud service providers (e.g., Microsoft Azure, AWS, Google Cloud Platform) and implementing various architectural paradigms with cloud components is required. Your background should include proven experience in technical leadership and setting technical direction for engineering projects. Lastly, you should have first-hand experience in either Search and Retrieval technologies, AI/ML techniques with Natural Language Processing, or Content Management Systems for high-traffic websites, with a willingness to learn other areas. This structure maintains all the key information while presenting it in a more narrative format, reducing the reliance on bullet points. Where are you going to work? This position is based in Gothenburg, and you are expected to commute to the office at least 3 days a week.
