SSAB - Commodity Manager

SSAB is undertaking a strategic roadmap to revolutionize iron- and steelmaking, and to be the world’s first steel company to deliver iron ore-based fossil-free steel to the market in 2026. We are looking for a highly motivated person to join us in this journey as Commodity Manager in SSAB’s Nordic Raw Material and Energy Procurement team, responsible for iron ore and metallurgical coal commodities’ strategic sourcing activities. About the position

We are looking for a highly motivated person with procurement skills that exceeds our expectation when working with SSAB’s key raw material sourcing. You will be responsible for the strategic sourcing activities, such as commodity strategy development, source-to-contract, supplier management and performance assessment processes. Commodity responsibility is iron ore pellets and/or metallurgical coals and will be defined exactly depending on the chosen person’s background. The position can be located in Raahe, Luleå or Oxelösund and there is flexibility to work partially remotely. Position requires frequent travelling.

Main responsibilities

• Strategic sourcing including for example contracting, supplier management, commodity strategy, risk management and responsible sourcing / sustainability of your own commodity
• Leading cross-functional Commodity Team -work across the Nordic sites with procurement colleagues, production planners, metallurgists and business controllers
• Continuous improvement activities in Total Cost of Ownership
• Monitoring, analyzing and reporting raw material markets and prices

About You

• You have experience from procurement, supply chain, raw material planning or process/production management within steel industry
• As a person, you are a team player with integrity and great social skills, which together with your competence make you a great colleague to work with
• Through your solid experience, you have an independent, method driven and results-orientated way of working
• In addition to working strategically, you need to be a pragmatic doer who thrives in helping hands-on to get things done
• Your analytical skills will be a key competence in succeeding in this position and you do not mind deep diving into details to get a full understanding
• We expect you to have a Master's or Bachelor’s degree in economics or technology. You have very good written and spoken English skills and have professional skills in Excel and PowerPoint
