This position reports to BL Ports Global Tech Manager

Your role and responsibilities

You will be part of Marine and Ports in Västerås. ABB's business for ports assists shipping companies to transfer containers in a reliable, quick and cost-efficient way. Ports is specialized in advanced automation and information systems for motion control of all types of container cranes. We are the leading supplier of crane systems and are active worldwide. In the large terminal automation projects we deliver electric and automation systems for 50 to 100 cranes, to the major container ports in the world.

As product owner you report to KT5 Manager. You will be part of the Standard Software solutions team consisting of 10 highly skilled automation SW engineers, responsible for development of crane automation standard software for stacking cranes, development of our dynamic crane control, responsible for drives SW, our safety solutions and safety SW standardization for automated container cranes. The department has around 50% work in customer delivery projects and 50% R&D and product maintenance.

In this role you will be responsible for Standard SW and Safety Standard SW, for Automatic Stacking Cranes (ASC) at KT5, ensuring that the ASC Standard is relevant to customer requirements. You will also be involved with setting up driving the technical roadmap for this Crane Type.

Reporting to the KT5 manager, and handle communication to internal stakeholders.

•Supports Engineering, Sales, Product Management and Customer Support on advanced product issues.

•Maintains product roadmaps in cooperation with System Owners.

•Develops new product features as concepts or feature specifications and participates in the development process.

•Identifies, proposes, and perform product maintenance activities as part of the budget cycle.

•Provides input and participates in discussions regarding technology content/development for current and future business, based on a solid understanding of ABB's technology landscape, state-of-the-art external technology, and current/future customer need.

•Supports creation of R&D project work packages for product area.

•Maintains technical product documentation and application guidelines.

•Ensures adherence to Technology Development Process.

•Collects, analyzes, and evaluates information and data about technologies and market (ABB, competition, and academia) in collaboration with others.

Qualifications for the role

  • Experience from team lead
  • Experience from leading agile teams is beneficial.
  • Experience in SW development within automation area (PLC, embedded).
  • Experience with Machine Directive (2006/42/EC) is beneficial.
  • Work with Safety of machinery (ISO 13849-1) is beneficial
  • Experience from control of automation systems or drives are valuable.
  • You have a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or relevant field together with experience as a Software Developer.
  • Since you will work in a global company, you need to master English in both speech and writing, Swedish language skills are meriting.
