Design Engineer - Otto engine development

It is Scania’s ambition to continue its quick growth in the area of sustainable transports and alternative fuels. To adjust resources for this ambition we need to strengthen our group that has the responsibility to provide Scania with viable and sustainable gas driven engines.

Our mission is to develop the Otto engine and its performance affecting fuel components. To meet legal and project requirements.

Our team is responsible for the design, development and product maintenance of parts in the fuel and ignition systems of our natural gas and biogas fueled otto engines and vehicles. We work tightly together with the engine integration team, our suppliers and other areas within Scania.

The role

As a development engineer specializing in construction, you'll collaborate with your team to develop, coordinate and plan work to create an efficient and quality-assured product.

Your responsibilities will also include

• designing new components and ensuring their functionality within the system.

• work closely with our suppliers to ensure quality and timely delivery.

• you to be involved from the start in developing new fuel system items to meet your engine's performance needs.

• write up requirement specifications, test plans and reports, conduct design reviews,

• support other colleagues and participate in technical discussions in various forums.

Part of the work is also to find the cause of failures that occur on your components and solve problems for customers, both internal and external.

Your profile

We think you are a team player, you willingly share your experiences and enjoy working collaboratively to achieve desired results. Practical skills and attention to detail are highly valued. Given the cross-functional nature of the work, strong collaboration and communication skills are essential.

We expect you to have:

• a master's degree in mechanical engineering or an equivalent qualification.

• experience with CNG/LNG in vehicles or other applications.

• a background should include designing and developing components for gaseous-fueled combustion engines or vehicles.

• a genuine interest in internal combustion engines or technology in general.

• good confident at write and speak fluently in English. If you also write and speak fluently in Swedish, it's considered a merit.

• You are positive, committed, and motivated by problem-solving.
