The Hotel Manager
will be one of our most important contributors to Hurtigruten achieving its vision and has a key role in the management on board our ships. The Hotel Manager reports to the ship's captain on board and on commercial results to Hotel Operations on land.

Duties and responsibilities
  • Full operational responsibility for all hotel operations on board, including service and quality delivery, budget, and personnel responsibility
  • Ensure world-class service delivery through active departmental presence and proactive contribution to consistently provide exceptional guest experiences
  • A motivator that gets the best out of the individual employee
  • Ensure a "one ship" feeling for the crew through active dialogue, communication, and handover with the replacement for their position
  • Responsible for ensuring that all Standard operating procedures (SOP's) are followed in daily operations
  • Responsible for the hotel's onboard management team and contribute to efficient operations and achievement of overall KPI's, NPS, sales and cost KPI's
  • Work actively to create commitment, facilitate training, and competence development
  • As manager at Hurtigruten, you are responsible for optimal shift planning, follow-up of sick leave, compliance with working and rest periods
  • Create engagement in your department and motivate employees to upsell in all contexts
  • Responsible for implementation and follow-up of new concepts, participate and lead guest activities on the ship
  • Ensure that the department acts in accordance with safety procedures, and reports accidents to the manager. Takes measures to prevent such incidents from recurring.
  • Comply with the Group's procedures and other relevant internal policies, laws, regulations (etc. Food safety, USPH)
  • Full responsibility for good cost control of all operating costs in the hotel departments
Qualifications/Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in hotel management or similar. Extensive relevant experience can compensate for a lack of formal education
  • Experience with performance and personnel responsibility from similar positions in hotel and/or restaurant operations
  • Professional expertise in guest experiences that include food, drink or product experiences is something that will be emphasized
  • Must be fluent in English. German and Nordic language is an advantage
  • Experience from international cruise ships, and/or 5-star hotels will be emphasized
  • Good communication skills
  • Hurtigruten set high demands for safety on board, which means that all employees must have, Basic safety course for seafarers STCW AV/1-1, 1-2, 1-1, 1-4, Crowd and Crises management course STCW AV/2, and approved health certificate from authorized seafarer doctor. There is no requirement to have completed the courses before applying, but you must be willing to take them.
