The Global Headquarters for Volvo Financial Services is seeking a Director Global Financial Planning and Analysis to provide leadership and development of the Financial Planning and Analysis team within the Volvo Financial Services Global HQ Finance Department.


What you will do

As a Director Global Financial Planning and Analysis, you will be responsible for financial and business analyses, guiding the department in achieving its goals, ensuring adherence to both internal and external deadlines, collaborating with the Director of Data Visualization and Analytics, and supporting the professional development of our global network of finance professionals.

Together with your colleagues at VFS and in the broad cross-functional network at the Volvo Group, your starting point will be to take responsibilities in the following areas:

  • Leads and coaches Global Financial Planning and Analysis team
  • Mentors global HQ, region HQ, and local market analysts on topics such as pricing, modeling, and professional development
  • Leads ongoing development of the VFS Finance Academy and supports the effort to ensure that all VFS finance professionals receive appropriate training
  • Promotes transformation in Global HQ finance function through use of dashboard technology and RPA solutions
  • Oversees harmonization of data definitions in VFS Data Lake and supports markets in becoming compliant
  • Proposes market and region profitability targets and measures
  • Manages global planning process throughout the year, including monthly short-term forecasts and annual budget
  • Owner of global reserve model and associated documentation; works alongside others in the finance function to update model as new accounting pronouncements arise
  • Monitors and performs analysis on local market pricing assumptions, including risk and servicing cost factors
  • Oversees compilation and analysis of publicly available information pertaining to competitor performance and directs presentation of findings to senior management
  • Provides effective and concise analysis of company’s financial position which results in proactive recommendations to business leaders
  • Supports finance function in developing executive information, reporting, and measurements for financial and non-financial data
  • Continues to develop VFS financial policies and procedures to ensure all financial transactions are controlled, tracked, reported, and analyzed in a timely manner, in accordance with Volvo’s Financial Policies and Procedures
  • Performs ad hoc reporting and analysis in support of the CFO, Chief Credit Officer, SVP Communications, etc.
  • Works effectively in a small and focused team with exposure to international markets and senior management
  • Travels internationally (20% or less)
  • Models The Volvo Way and ensures The Code of Conduct is followed
  • Other duties and projects may be assigned

Qualifications likely required to be successful in this role include:

  • BS/BA in Finance/Accounting or related field is required. CPA and/or MBA preferred.
  • 15+ years progressive experience in financial services industry
  • 5+ years of experience with Volvo Financial Services or another captive finance company
  • Multi-national corporate work experience strongly preferred
  • Proven leadership competency demonstrated by successful managerial experience
  • Innovative problem solving coupled with strong analytical and quantitative abilities
  • Demonstrated ability to achieve goals with minimum supervision
  • Proficient in MS Office, with advanced knowledge in Excel and PowerPoint
  • Experience with Hyperion Essbase, data visualization tools, and RPA technology
  • Fluency in reading, writing, and speaking English; additional languages a plus
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills with exposure to various business settings
  • Integrity and unquestionable ethics
