Danske Commodities (DC) is an energy trading company that specialises in power and gas trading and offers balancing, optimisation and hedging services to energy producers and suppliers. Every day, we complete more than 10,000 trades across 39 countries, constantly moving energy from where there is more than needed to where it is needed most. DC is a wholly owned subsidiary to Norwegian energy company Equinor, operating under its own name and brand.

Power Origination is part of DC's Global Trading & Market Development and we are here to shape the future of energy trading. Aiming to futureproof DC's business through focused business development, our mission is clear: we will expand DC's business model globally, we will develop new markets and together with Equinor we will push the green energy transition forward, starting from our home turf. To succeed with our mission, we are looking for several senior energy professionals with experience in CHP optimisation and/or PPAs in the Nordics and CWE markets.

You will join a highly experienced Origination team that is the customer facing unit in DC. We conduct analyses, develop new business and are responsible for selling our products and services as we are the primary link to our customers. Our customers include wind parks, utility companies, large industrials and the likes – therefore, it is important that you have a natural flair for stakeholder management. Our mission and mandate is to grow our customer and product portfolio, whilst maintaining the current, by adding experience and seniority to our unit. We are a diverse team with a wide variety of nationalities and backgrounds, but what we all have in common is our instinctive understanding of market conditions, a solid business acumen and, last but not least, our great people skills. A unique opportunity to develop and lead DC's origination journey in Nordic/CWE markets
After a thorough introduction to DC, the Global Trading & Market Development unit and other relevant internal stakeholders, you will focus on strengthening our markets presence in CWE markets. Your first task will be to collaborate with DC's portfolio of power generators, including conventionals and renewables, to develop tailor-made and competitive products. As part of an overall level up of our business in CWE, you will assess the market potential in the Nordics, starting in Denmark. Down the road, when our position in the Nordics is cemented, we will use our collectively established expertise to build up a similar position elsewhere.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • be overall responsible for maintaining and growing DC's customer business in the Nordics, including producers and consumers
  • maintain daily interaction with the clients and deliver a high service level
  • provide strong feedback to the product teams on price levels, market development, etc.
  • establish and negotiate strategic partnerships with renewables developers
  • pitch new product ideas to customers and further strengthen DC's position as an innovative company at the forefront of product development in Nordics
  • follow relevant legislation and ensure that DC is ahead of the game in identifying opportunities and threats arising from legislative changes
  • represent DC at fairs and conferences with the aim of maintaining the strong brand of DC (e.g. doing speaking engagements at conferences)
QUALIFICATIONS
We expect that you:
  • hold a relevant master's degree in International Business, Finance, Marketing, Economics or similar
  • have a minimum of five years' experience from a similar position in the energy business
  • are fluent in a Scandinavian language and English – both written and verbal
  • preferably, speak an additional language, e.g. Polish

  • thrive working independently – we are a team with many (international) locations, which requires you to be able to work independently and collaborate with the team across locations
  • preferably, work regularly from our headquarters in Aarhus with the opportunity to work from home or one of our international offices
  • are outgoing and have strong stakeholder management capabilities – even though you will work independently, you will also collaborate with a wide range of stakeholders in the organisation and outside the organisation
  • are proactive – you are always hunting for new value pools, scanning the market and its development for opportunities and indicating alternative options where you see fit
