Academic Work is on behalf of our client UMS Skeldar in Switzerland looking for a lead avionics systems engineer. We have noticed that the specific competencies and motivation needed at UMS Skeldar is often found here in Sweden. The company is expanding fiercely and is strengthening the department in Möhlin, Basel, where there is currently a dynamic team of 30 coworkers working in R&D with the future of UAV:s and RPAS (Remotely Piloted Air Systems). The city of Basel is located by the Swiss border to France and Germany, here you can conveniently choose between living on the idyllic countryside or in the buzzing city. Basel's special location offers short train journeys to endless new experiences and cultures. This position is a long term placement for one year or more, so you will have plenty of time to overeat cheese or perhaps climb the Toblerone mountain, Matterhorn.
UMS Skeldar is a joint venture between UMS Aero AG and Saab AB founded 2016. The company has specialized on all activities in the development chain behind UAV:s and RPAS. The products are adapted to civilian as well as military use, and new application areas are continuously found. As a lead avionics systems engineer at UMS Skeldar in Switzerland you will have responsibility for the development and integration projects for all avionics and electrical systems. As a lead avionics systems engineer you will work with several systems associated with the UAV:s. You will push the development of the systems forward and make sure they are fully functional in the products. Your work will include requirements analysis, using the V-model, and you will take on the role as lead engineer throughout the whole development process ranging from design and production all the way to the test flight.
The role offers varied types of work, and there are possibilities for you to affect how the role is shaped. If your main strength lies in your technical knowledge there will be guaranteed challenges in the technically heavy projects, whereas another exiting possibility is to grow in the team leadership position. We are looking for an experienced system engineer with a background in avionics and aerospace projects. Therefore, we want you too:
- Have a university degree in aerospace, electrical or system engineering (or similar).
- Have a few years of experience as avionics systems engineer, or a similar role, as well as experience in the aerospace industry.
- Be fluent in English, both spoken and written. Skills in German and/or French is extra qualifying.
- Have a great curiosity and will to develop in an international organization.
Experience in management of complex development projects internally and with product suppliers will be an advantage. Furthermore knowledge in aviation standards and certification processes is also extra qualifying.
As a person, you are fearless and curious by being comfortable in taking action and trying out new ideas. You are responsible and deliver solutions to problems. In addition to this, we want you to be highly cooperative and enjoy teamwork with a positive attitude. Because of the change prone environment, it is also very important that you are flexible.
