Scania is now undergoing a transformation from being a supplier of trucks, buses and engines to a supplier of complete and sustainable transport solutions.
Scania Purchasing is responsible for purchasing products and services for all of Scania's units in the world and to some extent also for other brands within the Traton Group. This position belongs to Powertrain Purchasing, the department that focuses on parts for engines, gearboxes and axles. We are currently in a phase of many exiting product development projects, e.g. within electrification, and we are therefore looking for a Buyer to join our team.
Your tasksAs a Buyer you will have many contact points both within Purchasing, but also towards other functions such as R&D, production and our external suppliers.
You will be responsible for securing prototype material for our development projects which includes;
- Sending out request for quotations and negotiations with suppliers to secure best cost and project budget for prototypes.
- Secure order confirmation and transport booking.
- Independently secure that material is delivered in time according to the project’s deadlines and test plans, incl. following up delivery schedule from suppliers, handle and prevent late deliveries.
- Secure right quality of ordered prototypes and together with R&D handle and prevent quality deviations.
- Administrative tasks, such as order placements, invoice management.
An important part of the assignment is also to support our Project Sourcing Managers in our purchasing process for serial material, where we work in cross-functional teams. This includes;
- Prepare and send out requests for quotations, secure suppliers quotes according to the deadline as well as compile and analyse received quotes.
- Collect and compile input from all concerned cross-functions before nomination decision.
Your profileWe are looking for you with a bachelor or master's degree in business economics, engineering or similar. You have a strong technical and commercial interest. Previous experience from purchasing, material handling or casting/machining industry is an advantage. Advanced level in written and spoken English is mandatory, and good knowledge in Swedish is an advantage. Driver’s licence is mandatory.
To be successful in this role you need to be result- and goal-oriented, take your own initiative, feel responsibility for your deliveries and deliver on time to the right quality. You are confident when it comes to expressing clear requirements towards others. You work in a proactive way to be able to offer the best possible support to your purchasing colleagues and Scania as a whole.
You are stress-resilient, analytical and work in a structured way to be able to run several purchasing assignments in parallel and independently. As the position also involves several interfaces both internally and externally, you like to collaborate and you work in a proactive way to support and involve others. As a person, you are positive and contribute to good team spirit in the groups you work in, even though the pace of work is sometimes high.
