Embedded developer for remote sensor system

Embedded developer for remote sensor system

We are the tiny-big company; with a start-up mentality and where every engineer can add to the functional requirements as long it can be motivated. We are backed by a large corporation and release products on an international scale and market.
We are now looking for a junior embedded engineer to join our team in Gothenburg.

About the Company:
Historically, Vema Venturi AB's operations can be summarized as technical consultancy in the areas of modern concrete technology, electronics and information technology.
We develop and provide technical solutions for the manufacturing industry and construction contractors. Our own products include equipment for temperature and moisture measurement in concrete. Vema Venturi contributes creative solutions in the development phase in terms of both manufacturing technology and production adaptation and serves as a sparring partner in manufacturing methodology, evaluation of technical solutions and financial optimization of existing designs. Since 2018, Vema Venturi AB is owned by PERI GmbH, Weissenhorn, Germany.
PERI was founded in 1969 by Artur Schwörer and is today one of the world's largest manufacturers of mold and scaffolding systems. It is a family-owned group headquartered in Weissenhorn, Germany. Today there are more than 70 subsidiaries and 140 logistics centers strategically located around the world. The Group has over 8700 employees and a turnover of just over SEK 14.80 billion.
Vema Venturi AB is a strategic development center that focuses on research and development of tomorrow's technical solutions in IT and IoT.

More about the job:
IoT is taking ground in the otherwise conservative building construction market. We make remote wireless measurement systems for concrete casting applications to measure temperature, humidity and pressure, and our customers use the data for calculation of strength, decision making assistance and report generation.
Our current products consist of remotely located measurement nodes, who is sending data over the ISM band to a nearby base station which is connected to the Internet through a GSM connection. Our main application to date is measurements in concrete and measurements related to building construction sites. Your role in this company would involve development for both existing and upcoming products. We are using C for embedded development and will be using Python or similar for test development in the CI/CD process.

Your daily work would involve the following:
  • Embedded C on constrained MCU's running some RTOS like FreeRTOS or Contiki
  • Communicating with external IC's through UART, I2C, SPI or similar
  • Probing and measuring signals using oscilloscopes and logic analyzers
  • Collaborate with electronics engineer, as well as reading and reviewing circuit diagrams
  • Writing unit and regression tests
  • Remote communication using CoAP and CBOR
  • Version controlling and project planning using Jira, Gitlab and Git
Your profile:
While experience in these areas might help you and us, what really matters is who you are. We place great weight on who you are as a person, what drives you and how you fit in the team. We are primarily looking for an engineer who is early in the career, however you probably have a B.Sc., a M.Sc. or equivalent.
